Festo Camera Group Launches In Kampala

The launch event was graced by many guests

Festo Camera Group Uganda Ltd, a one-stop camera store selling all kinds of Cameras and managing after sales services has opened shop in Kampala.

Speaking as guest of honour at the official opening of the shop located at Crown House in Kampala on Friday, Daniel Nuwabiine, the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Public Relations Officer, who represented KCCA Executive Director, Sharifah Buzeki, praised Festo Muwonge, the proprietor of the company for his investment.

He noted that the venture has potential to boost the economy and create job opportunities for Ugandan youth.

“I thank you for choosing to return home and invest here. This not only strengthens the economy but also creates jobs for our people. I see you have employed many workers here. Unfortunately, many Ugandans who go abroad return home, spend extravagantly, and leave without making any investments,” Nuwabiine said.

He further highlighted that the shop will benefit not only media professionals and related industries, but also government agencies like KCCA. “At KCCA, we have many gadgets with minor issues, such as broken lenses or glasses. Now that you are here, instead of purchasing new equipment, we can bring them in for repairs at an affordable cost,” he added.

He advised Muwonge to register with the E-Government Procurement (EGP) program if he wishes to secure government supply contracts, emphasizing that the government is the biggest spender.

He also commended Muwonge for providing genuine equipment and urged him to maintain his reliability.

“Many businesses start with quality products but later begin selling counterfeits. I urge you to remain trustworthy,” he said, further urging Muwonge and his team to comply with tax regulations by ensuring timely payment of taxes. He assured him of KCCA’s full support in his business endeavors.

Festo Muwonge, the director of Festo Camera Group said they have a team of well-trained mechanics who are not only skilled in repairing cameras, but also proficient in teaching people how to use and set them up.

According to Muwonge, having gained extensive experience in South Africa, where he operated for several years, he has returned to bridge the gap in the camera sector by providing brand-new, up-to-date equipment and spare parts.

“We import all types of camera equipment and spare parts. We are here because we realized that Kampala lacks enough skilled camera mechanics, and even those available often struggle to access spare parts. Our approach is unique, offering quality equipment and reliable services,” he said.
