The Belgian Embassy in Uganda has revealed events that will mark twenty years of the mission’s existence in Kampala.
The timetable for what has been dubbed “Belgian Week” is contained in a statement posted on the Embassy’s Facebook page on Thursday. It will happen from the 15th to 21st November 2018.
“To mark this special 2018 edition of Belgian Week in Kampala, we will be rolling out a series of events between the 15th and 21st November, featuring diplomatic gatherings, trade and economic related activities, a development day, a kids event, our Kings Day reception, cultural interactions, visits to Ugandan innovative companies, Belgian food tasting and a much anticipated concert featuring the renowned Belgian band Intergalactic Lovers,” reads in part a message on the embassy’s Facebook page of the week that will be held under the them; Sharing More than Colours.
As part of the activities, Uganda’s Uganda’s Kaz Kasozi will be part of a live band performance featuring renowned Belgian indie-rock band, Intergalactic Lovers.
The concert will be held at the Design Hub in Kampala.
The Belgian embassy is one of 67 foreign representations in Uganda, and one of 66 foreign representations in Kampala.
November’s events will further strengthen cooperation between Uganda and the European nation that has played a key role in bridging the budgetary gaps especially in the education sector.
Two years ago, Belgium’s ambassador to Uganda, HE Hugo Verbist signed on behalf of his government, a huge investment of 8m Euros (Close to sh30b) with the Ugandan government aimed at upgrading the professional competencies of trainers of teachers and teachers from the National teachers’ Colleges of Kabale and Mubende.
