A major shift in Uganda’s business banking landscape has begun, as Equity Bank Uganda launched Equity Online for Business, a next-generation digital platform poised to redefine how enterprises manage finances in an increasingly fast-moving economy.
The new digital platform is designed to simplify financial management by consolidating all essential financial tools into one platform: enabling businesses to manage accounts, supplier payments, payroll, recurring bills, foreign transactions and reconciliations.
Speaking at the launch today at Protea Hotel Kampala, Tumubweine Twinemanzi Executive Director of National Payment Systems Bank of Uganda said “This is a step in the right direction. It is more than a platform, it is an enhancement of the digital agenda of Equity Bank, it is about making banking a reality for businesses through ease of transaction, 24-hour access, and secure platform. The introduction of this platform changes the direction in which business is conducted, following the agenda that is conducted by the Bank of Uganda” Twinemanzi says.
Replacing the outgoing EazzyBiz system, the new platform is not just an upgrade, it is a full-scale reinvention of business banking. From real-time financial visibility to seamless payment processing and enhanced security, Equity is betting big on technology as the engine of enterprise growth.
Executive Director Equity Bank, Claver Serumaga described the platform as a direct response to the demands of modern commerce. “Business today moves at the speed of decision-making,” Serumaga noted. “Companies need clarity, control and systems that work as fast as they do. Equity Online for Business brings all of this together in one powerful platform.”
“The Equity Online platform is a business financial tool designed with influence from customer feedback, since Equity is your listening caring partner. I therefore urge our customers to give us feedback to guide us with enhancement to other versions,” he adds
At its core, Equity Online for Business functions like a financial cockpit, giving companies a 360-degree view of their operations. For instance, businesses can now; monitor multiple accounts in real time, execute bulk payments, including salaries and supplier settlements, manage cash flow across currencies and accounts plus access detailed analytics and automated reconciliations
The platform integrates seamlessly across web, mobile, and enterprise systems, allowing business owners and finance teams to operate from anywhere, whether in the office or on the move.
Beyond convenience, the platform introduces a stronger security framework, including One-Time Password (OTP) verification, token-based authentication, and structured approval workflows. Transactions can be authorized remotely, ensuring that business never pauses, even when decision-makers are away.
Corporate administrators are also given unprecedented control, with the ability to manage user access, approvals, and governance without external support.
Effective immediately, all Equity Bank business customers will transition to the new platform to continue accessing digital banking services. The move signals a decisive push toward a cash-lite, digitally driven economy.
Industry observers say the shift could significantly reduce inefficiencies, cut operational costs, and improve financial transparency for businesses across Uganda.
Equity positions the platform as more than a transactional tool. With features such as real-time foreign exchange updates, inter-country transfers, and integrated statutory payments, the system is designed to support both local enterprises and regionally expanding businesses.
“Equity Online for Business is not just about managing money, it is about empowering businesses to grow with confidence, backed by reliable, secure, and intelligent financial systems,” said Immaculate Asiimwe Head of payments and Channels Equity Bank Uganda. “With constant overlook over cyber security. The platform offers a tight and dynamic secure system to guard against online fraud,” Asiimwe added.
To ensure a smooth transition, Equity Bank has deployed dedicated relationship teams to support onboarding, training and system integration. Businesses are being encouraged to fully explore the platform’s expanded capabilities as part of their digital transformation journey.
As Uganda’s business environment becomes more competitive and digitally interconnected, platforms like Equity Online for Business may well become the backbone of enterprise operations.
In this unfolding story of innovation, one thing is clear: the age of manual, fragmented financial management is fading fast. And stepping into its place is a smarter, faster, always-on digital frontier.
