Entebbe International Airport Records Highest-Ever Monthly Passenger Traffic in July 2025

The surge in July 2025 was partly driven by the arrival of delegations for CHAN 2024

Entebbe International Airport handled 230,577 passengers in July 2025, the highest monthly traffic in the airport’s history, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has revealed.

This included 119,127 arriving and 111,450 departing passengers, averaging 7,437 per day. Arrivals exceeded departures during the month.

“The previous highest monthly traffic was recorded in December 2024, with 222,301 passengers, an average of 7,171 arrivals, and departures per day,” Vianney M. Luggya, the UCAA Spokesperson, said.

According to Luggya, the surge in July 2025 was partly driven by the arrival of delegations for CHAN 2024, increased tourism promotion, international conferences, and enhanced airline connectivity.

In terms of cargo, the airport handled a total of 5,863 metric tonnes, including 3,961 tonnes of exports and 1,902 tonnes of imports.

It’s important to note that Entebbe International Airport recorded 550,439 international arrivals and 582,927 international departures, totaling 1,133,366 international passengers in the first half of 2025.

To accommodate the growing passenger and cargo traffic, there is an ongoing construction of the new terminal building at Entebbe International Airport.

The upgrade and expansion of a new terminal building and other ongoing works will significantly increase the airport’s capacity and efficiency, subsequently boosting trade and tourism.
