Ecobank Uganda on Tuesday donated Shs80M to the Government of Uganda in support of the efforts towards alleviating the impact of COVID-19.
Led by the bank’s Chairman Board of Directors, Kin Kariisa, the Pan-African bank handed over the cheque to Mary Karooro Okurut, the Minister in charge of General Duties in the Prime Minister’s Office, who also oversees the COVID-19 Fund.
Kariisa was flanked by Clement Dodoo, the bank’s Managing Director and Annette Kihuguru, the Executive Director of the bank.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni recently appealed to affluent Ugandans and corporate companies to donate cars and money which will help in the fight against COVID-19.
A number of companies have since come up to donate relief food items, cars and money.
As of yesterday, more than 31 motor vehicles, Shs4.6 billion and several assorted foods, medical equipment and protective gear had been donated to the Government of Uganda’s efforts to fight COVID-19.
