dfcu Bank and Ekibiina Ky’olulimi Oluganda (EKO), a Buganda Kingdom body that promotes Luganda as a language, have partnered to bring education closer to the stakeholders. The two parties announced the partnership at a media briefing held on Wednesday at Bulange in Mengo.
The partnership, the second one in a row after May 2023’s will bring together proprietors of schools, parents and learners.
“How do we align to the overall objective or mission of the Ministry of Education and Sports, which is Quality Education for All? As a Bank, our Mission still stands very clear in terms of transforming lives and businesses, and that is the reason why we are building this partnership between Buganda Kingdom and dfcu Bank, specifically to Ekibiina Ky’olulimi Oluganda (EKO). The reasoning behind all these is to ensure that, if we are to achieve the quality of education for all, then we need to ensure that the schools that are within the Kingdom are offering the best of education. We also need to ensure that the perspective of quality education is within reach for every parent and students, and we are calling upon every Ugandan out there to come along and participate in the Buganda Education Skills Expo,” said Brian Katamba, Sector Head, Education and Health at dfcu Bank.
The Skills Expo will be held between January 26, 2024 and January 28, 2024 at Lubiri Grounds and in Masaka between February 2, 2024 and February 4, 2024.
“We will be able to build a bridge between the schools and parents, as well as build a bridge between financial institutions like dfcu Bank and the proprietors of schools, and supporting the parents to get enough funds to meet the school fees deficit for their children. The partnership is timely because it helps our parents to access services from dfcu, helps the proprietors to access services from dfcu Bank,” added Katamba.
Grace Nansubuga Lubowa, the Acting Chairperson of EKO, lauded the bank for the partnership.
According to Anthony Wamala, a Minister in the Buganda Kingdom, the partnership has the capacity to grow from strength to strength. Wamala called for commitment towards making the partnership even more stronger. He commended dfcu Bank for standing in between suppliers of schools, proprietors of schools, parents and learners in a bid to improve education in the Kingdom.
