Jennifer Musisi Friday morning officially exited Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) as Executive Director.
She handed over the office of KCCA Executive Director to The Minister for Kampala Beti Kamya at City Hall. Among documents given to Kamya included 13 bank accounts worth over Shs113bn. Musisi revealed that when she became the first KCCA Executive Director over seven years ago, the city body had 151 accounts, but these have been reduced “due to systems improvements”.
Musisi added that she has tried her “best to transform Kampala” as she promised when she took over.
She revealed that KCCA is being run according to international standards, the reason why the city authority has won several global accolades during her tenure.
She listed sports, health, education, infrastructure and social welfare among the areas where big transformation has been registered.
However, Kamya accepted Musisi’s handover with a rider.
“The President (Museveni) has not accepted Jennifer Musisi’s resignation and neither has her replacement been made,“ Kamya said, adding: “In the mean time, she leaves behind a very competent team…[KCCA] work will continue smoothly, offices will remain open and trade order and laws that govern this city will continue and upheld.”
Kamya, who received Musisi’s report ceremoniously handed it over to the Auditor General for verification and accountability purposes.
In a 21-page letter dated October 15, 2018, Musisi said she will cease being executive director of KCCA effective December 15, 2018.
Museveni first appointed Musisi in 2011 on a three-year contract. The contract was renewed for the third term in April 2017 amidst rumours that Musisi had submitted her resignation during her second term after being accused by some National Resistance Movement (NRM) politicians including Museveni himself for causing massive electoral loss for the ruling party in the city due to her high handedness approach.
