Uganda’s Deputy government spokesperson and deputy Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre, Col. Shaban Bantariza is dead.
Bantariza breathed his last on Tueday morning according to reports.
He passed on at Mulago National Referral Hospital where he had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
The army spokesperson, Brig Flavia Byekwaso confirmed the news on Twitter.
“The UPDF family with great sadness have learnt of the passing on of the deputy Executive director of Uganda media centre and deputy government spokesman Rtd Col Shaban Bantariza at Mulago national referral hospital. May his soul rest in peace,” she tweeted.
His immediate boss, Ofwono Opondo also tweeted saying Bantariza had succumbed to hypertension.
“I hereby with deep sorrow regret to announce the death of my Deputy @ShabanBantariza that occurred early this morning at Mulago Hospital where he had been in admission since Sunday with hypertension,” Ofwono said.
