Coach Ibrahim Kirya joins third team in season

After coach Ibrahim Kirya was fired from his role at Mbarara City last week, he has now been unveiled at relegation-threatened Masavu, joining the third team since quitting URA in December.

The much travelled coach was fired from URA on December 21 and joined Mbarara City the following day.

The romance at Mbarara lasted until last week. He revealed that he left his position at Mbarara citing interference.

Kirya’s short-termism has characterised his coaching career since he stopped being deputy.

His time as head coach at SC Villa is well remembered in 2016 when he oversaw a humiliating 7-0 mauling by FUS Rabat in the 2016 Caf Confederation Cup. In June that year, he was sacked by the Jogoos.

Less than two months passed before he was snapped up by Lweza on July 13.

The CAF licence holder was then hired to replaced his former boss Kefa Kisala for a two-year contract that was cut short nine months later.

His main duty now is to help Masavu avoid the drop after a poor start.
