Balaam Barugahara congratulates Dr. Talemwa (Left) upon the launch of the IRIS Imaging Centre last Friday.
On Friday, October 25, 2024, TMR International Hospital hosted its stakeholders, including partners and clients, to a cocktail at their Naalya Branch.
The Minister of State for Children and Youth Affairs in the Ministry of Gender, Labor, and Social Development, Balaam Barugahara, was the chief guest.
Partners, clients, and staff of the facility said good things about TMR International.
“This is a hospital where hospitality is served,” said Dan Fred Kidega, the former Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). Years ago, Kidega was involved in a nasty accident along the Kampala northern bypass. The vehicle he was driving in was damaged beyond repair. He was rushed to TMR International Hospital, from where he underwent specialized services. “I was supposed to have been flown abroad, but because I was in safe hands, I wasn’t.”
After his recovery, he visited specialized hospitals across the world for reviews. “I was told I am fine. Nothing is wrong. Because of TMR, I am a unique testimony,” said Kidega.
The Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian Furniture shared a similar story. Exactly eight months ago, he underwent a specialized surgery at TMR International. His ahead was operated on and a stone-like tumor removed. He chose TMR International despite pressure from his family to seek the same services out of the country.
Grace Kiwanuka, the Executive Director of the Uganda Healthcare Federation, attributes the success of TMR International Hospital to leadership, governance, and integrity. Dr. Daniel Mitchell Talemwa is the co-founder of TMR. Kiwanuka specifically credited Dr. Talemwa for his able leadership, good governance, and integrity. “We are proud to associate with TMR,” said Kiwanuka. “Dr. Daniel is professional and passionate. This partnership has helped us advance the health sector.”
Denis Twambale, the Head of Medical at UAP, recalls a 2020 partnership with TMR. He commended the facility for the growth thus far. Twambale admitted that his family seeks medical services from TMR. To this, he said quality defines TMR’s work.
According to Dr. Caro Nazziwa, a professional at Lifelink Hospital, TMR International is not a competitor but a partner. Through partnerships with TMR, Dr. Nazziwa says the two facilities meet the demand of the customers. “More than ever, it is critical to partner because we know the demand our customers put on us. We only make each other stronger and better. Through this partnership, we are enhancing the patients satisfaction,” says Dr. Nazziwa.
The facility’s co-founder, Dr. Talemwa, attributes TMR’s success stories to his staff. “It’s not the equipment; it is the staff,” says Dr. Talemwa. He was speaking in reference to the fact that during the COVID-19 outbreak, patients preferred TMR International to other facilities. He, however, noted that quality care is expensive. He suggests a move to have specialized services accessible. He appealed to Members of Parliament who were in the audience to fast track the issue of the health insurance scheme that has for some time been on the floor of Parliament. Dr. Talemwa assured the stakeholders of a continued quality service.
Dr. Charles Olaro, who represented Minister Margaret Muhanga, said the Ministry of Health expects a future of more collaboration and partnership. This, he said, is because quality care is expensive.
