The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has made special arrangements for Muslims returning from Mecca.
The arrangements come as Muslims start returning from Mecca.
UCAA Spokesperson Vianney M. Luggya said in a statement on Thursday that the arrangement is due to the anticipated traffic buildup.
Under this arrangement, departing passengers are advised to plan for more time so as to be at the airport at least 3 hours prior to their scheduled departure time to avoid missing flights during this period.
According to Luggya, a designated area has been reserved, with a tent erected in the VIP parking to cater for the meet-and-greet engagements.
One vehicle shall be allowed to access the airport to pick up the returning pilgrim(s). Other accompanying vehicles shall be diverted to the playground opposite the Protea Hotel before the Aviation Police checkpoint to wait from there. The vehicle to be allowed access shall have a sticker issued by the pilgrimage organizers, the Uganda Bureau of Haj Affairs.
The arrangement is aimed at ensuring less congestion within the airport for a better passenger experience for all users of the facilities, said Luggya.
