Victoria University through the Ruparelia has offered Sharon Mbabzi, the brick maker a partial scholarship worth Shs35m to pursue a degree of Masters in Public Administration and Management.
The scholarship was presented to Mbabazi by Associate Prof. Krishna N. Sharma, the Vice Chancellor of the University on Friday.
Mbabazi who recently graduated with a Bachelors of Mass Communication and Journalism from Muteesa 1 Royal University made bricks to fund her undergraduate course.
A video showing her making bricks to get fees went viral.
Mbabazi will be joining Victoria University in the March intake. Assoc. Prof. Krishna N. Sharma has also vowed to make a personal partial contribution to her remaining tuition fees.
Rotarian Milly Felix Kabyanga has also offered to pay part of the fees for Mbabazi whose amazing lifestyle defies gender and cultural bias.
Victoria University which opened in August 2010 is part of Ruparelia Group of Companies, which has a strong presence in the education sector in Uganda.
In May this year, Ruparelia Foundation offered 300 Victoria University Scholarships to Kampala based students.
