Airtel Uganda has renewed their sponsorship of the senior national team, the Uganda Cranes for another four years.
The telecommunications giants took over from their rivals MTN four years ago in a deal worth slightly over one billion shillings.
The new deal, that was unveiled on Monday morning at the Kampala Serena hotel, will see Airtel pump Shs10bn (approx $2.94M) in a period of four years.
The event was presided over by the Fufa President Eng. Moses Magogo, Minister of State for Sports, Charles Bakkabulindi and Airtel Managing Director of Airtel Uganda, VG Somasekhar.
Somasekhar said the Shs10 Billion contribution is to make a meaningful investment in football development.
Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango and his assistant Hassan Waswa were also present at the function.
Fufa President thanked the sponsors for the funds injected into the national team and added that the new sponsorship will go a long way in promoting the team.
“- Without the money, we cannot be able to give a good product. This sponsorship is not only about today but the future. We believe with even more resources, we can do a lot,” Magogo said.
