  1. Agriculture sector has been underfunded during the 38 years of NRM rule, the budget allocation of 2 to 3 % is very insufficient to cater for 70% the population that depends their livelihoods on agriculture. The more we underfund agriculture sector, the more we are encouraging people to live in subsistence livelihoods.
Research has shown that governments that invest effectively into Agriculture, reap strong economic growth, realize poverty declining levels, have high better nutritional standards and above all having a rapid shift of labour force from farming into Industrial manufacturing.
All the above mentioned things , government is paying a lip service. For instance Cocoa which would bring in more than 5 billion US dollars, is not given attention at all. Cashew nuts which has made Tanzania to jump into middle income has not also been attention.
Everything is not okay with the Agriculture sector.

  2. These are very good achievements. I am not sure if they have been properly presented or cross checked. For example under tea, How practical is it to distribute 199,785,979 tea tree seedlings in one year, could this be over several years? Also a tea seedling takes 3 year to start being harvested. So the production achievements recorded couldn’t have been generated in 1 year.
