The LC3 sub county of Nyakwae sub county in Abim district Franco Ochuu escaped death on Friday’s evening after armed warriors laid an ambush and attacked him. Ochuu was traveling on a boda boda.
The victims were traveling on a Motorcycle reg. No.UES 085Q, Bajaj along Abim- Kotido road at kapus village, Lokomebu parish, Kotido Sub county, in Kotido District.
Micheal Longole, the Mt. Moroto regional police spokesperson told URN that Ochuu was attacked along with Robert Amenya, a boda boda rider by two Karamojong warriors armed with a gun.
Longole said the victims sustained injuries on their hands as they tried to flee from the warriors before the ASTUs and UPDF intervened for their rescue.
He noted that the warriors robbed the victims of Ugx55,000 and a receipt of a smart Phone. Adding that the case of armed robbery has been registered in Kotido Police station.
Longole said the motorcycle belonging to victims was also safely recovered and the duo were taken to Okililing UPDF battalion for first aid.
He however described the attack as an isolated case that shouldn’t cause alarm in the community because they are handling the situation.
‘’Our joint security forces are pursuing the two criminals and we shall ensure that we arrest and prosecute them,’’ says Longole.
The incident comes weeks after Paul Lowok, the LC3 Napumpum sub county in Kotido district was shot and killed from the bar adjacent to his home by suspected armed raiders.
URN has learnt that there are reports that the rustlers have now started targeting security personnel and their collaborators.
