Human Resource Managers Urged To Behave Professionally

Human Resource Managers have been urged to practice high levels of professionalism while executing their work in the different sectors.

They have been urged to practice their ethical code of conduct, treat employees fairly and seek high levels of knowledge to save those at work to create better output of labour.

In a virtual press conference held Wednesday 10th June 2020 organised by The Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda (HRMAU), Moses Mbubi Witta (pictured), the new president of HRMAU said that they are on the forefront in ensuring that all human resource employees in Uganda raise their levels of knowledge, capacity building and professional development through quality training interventions.

He said that the association is in advanced stages of formulating the  Human Resource Profession Bill in Parliament that will guild the human resource management practitioners in different business sectors with policies and procedures to manage and sharpen skills appropriately for better productivity.

“We want to have a human resource professional law for organisation development. We need well qualified employees with certain code of conduct and ethics to raise the level of professionalism. We want the parliament to debate the bill and pass it into law. This will help us identify who is a true professional human resource practitioner with proven minimum level of skills and make it mandatory to join,” he said.

Nbubi further said that post Covid-19, there is need to re-skill the work force to adapt to the new normal situation of work, set up strategic partnerships and seek professional advice.

“The newly elected Governing Council will unpack a roadmap to their strategy aimed at promoting higher engagement and value addition to the community of practice in Uganda and beyond by revolutionizing the Association’s mission and positioning HRMAU as the bonafide professional membership body for HR practitioners in Uganda,” he said.

Phionah Tumusiime, working with Electoral Commission as well as Vice President, HRMAU, said that there is need to extend human resource professional management to the grass roots through regional representation including new volunteer registration and special groups of young professionals in universities.
