Corruption cases, misuse of public office and resources have increased following the outbreak of COVID-19 in Uganda, the Inspectorate of Government has revealed.
“The Inspector General of Government (IGG) charged with mandate of fighting corruption and abuse of office is receiving complaints if allegations of gross corruption, bribery, abuse of office, misuse of public resources among other forms of corruption,” the Inspectorate said in a statement issued yesterday.
The IGG has warned public servants against indulging in corrupt activities and called on the public to report such cases.
“The Inspectorate of Government warns all public officials to desist from any form of corruption and taking advantage of the Lockdown in the country. Members of the public are encouraged to report any incidences and or suspicions of corruption to the IGG,” the IGG added.
