Gov’t To Borrow Shs41bn From Coronavirus Stricken Italy

Uganda’s cabinet has approved a proposal to borrow up to 10.0million (Euro Ten Million) from the Government of the Republic of Italy to Finance the Karamoja Infrastructure Development Project Phase II Project under the Health Sector Development Plan (HSDP).

According to cabinet resolutions agreed on Monday, the Project is designed for the construction of 68 Staff Houses for selected Health facilities in all the Districts of Karamoja.

The purpose of the loan is to: Construct and equip new Health Center IIIs in the sub- counties that are not yet covered and make them functional; Upgrade some existing infrastructure (HC II, IVand Regional Referral Hospitals.

Cabinet also approved the Amendment of Regulation 40 of the SI 305-1 as amended by inserting sub-regulation (4) with retrospective effect to provide for pension for 44 Officers who were in the Security Organizations as at 1st July 2017 but had clocked retirement age in the period between 2009 and 1stJuly 2017.
