15 people have died and hundreds displaced following mudslides in Rukoki Sub County, Kasese District. The mudslides followed heavy rain that pounded the district on Tuesday night.
Uganda Red Cross Society reports that 15 bodies were recovered in Kigoro parish in Rukooki Sub County on Wednesday.
According to the Uganda Red Cross, a team has been dispatched to Rukoki Sub County.
Since 2013, Kasese District has been struggling with floods that often cause river banks to burst. Environmentalists blame poor human activities as the main cause of the disasters in the district.
