Uganda Ranked World’s 26th Best Travel Destination 2018

Uganda has emerged the world’s 26th best travel destination 2018, according to one of the world’s largest online travel websites.

Flight Network ranked 50 of the World’s Best Travel Journeys in 2018 with the help of 515 of the industry’s leading travel professionals.

Uganda came in at number 26 out of 2500 journeys evaluated.

The World’s Best Journeys list for 2018 was created by a collaboration between Flight Network and 500+ of the world’s top travel journalists, agencies, bloggers, and editors – the ultimate insiders of international travel.

Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

In Uganda, gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park was picked.

“There are currently 10 habituated gorilla families open to tourist visits, so trekking permits are limited to a mere 80 per day. Being surrounded by mamas, babies, and massive Silverback gorillas is an experience you’ll never forget,” Flight Network says.

With well-versed tour guides at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will hike through the underbrush of the Ugandan rainforests as you track down one of the many groups of gorillas that call the forest home.

Guides are key to the experience as they have the expertise to follow the gorilla’s path, leading you to a safe space where you can marvel at these magical creatures in their natural environment, the site says.

It adds that you can expect to find the gorillas when you’re about 2,500 – 4,000 meters above sea level.

“Once you encounter the gorillas, your reality will shift as you connect with these magnificent, intelligent beings. You may see the younger gorillas pestering their parents, the older ones relaxing, and they might get a little curious and start observing you,” it says.

Located in the southwestern corner of Uganda, at almost 330 square kilometers, the Bwindi forest is home to over 300 gorillas.

Gorilla trekking is always a thrilling experience

Begin the trek at Ndego Gate, located on the southern edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, then head for the home base of Gorilla Resort, a luxury safari camp that features furnished tents.

After another day following the gorilla’s path, and enjoying the thrill of witnessing them in nature, you’ll rest at Buhoma Homestead, an upscale lodge located in the park. Before the journey ends at Bwindi Gate you’ll spend a few hours navigating the areas of the park where gorillas are most common.

Getting there

Getting to the UNESCO World Heritage Site trekking location of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is part of the fun! It is easiest to fly into Entebbe, Uganda, and then get on a plane to the Kisoro airstrip. You can take most any international carrier, such as Qatar Airways, Emirates, Delta Airlines,or WestJet to Entebbe. To get to Kisoro, you’ll need to take a local carrier, such Aerolink or Eagle Air.

From Kisoro, you can hire a private taxi to take you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, or one of the nearby lodges.

If you are not with a tour group, you will drive north toward Mutolere, then to Bukimbiri, and then to Mushongero and continue north toward the park.

Meanwhile, Hiking Kilimanjaro Mountain in Tanzania came in at 45.

  1. This according to my view is not right. Many have looked at Uganda as one of the top travel destinations to visit. The in-explainable attractions the country has is literally un comparable to many tour destinations.

However, the 26th position is somewhat reasonable. Come Visit Uganda #Ugandasafaris
