NSSF Speaks Out On ‘Sacked’ Employees

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has spoken out on media reports claiming that over 30 employees at the Fund have been sent packing.

In a press statement dated June23, 2017, Richard Byarugaba, the Managing Director at NSSF, says that the Fund conducted an end of employment contract review process between May and June 2017, where it was recommended that contracts of 12 employees shouldn’t be renewed.

He insists that contrary to media reports, no employee has been sacked.

“Some employees felt aggrieved and appealed against the recommendation,” Byarugaba says in a statement, adding: “Management initiated a process to review the recommendation.  This process is on-going in accordance with the Fund’s Human Resource Policy Manual.”

He adds that all the affected employees have been given a fair opportunity to present their grievances and be heard and “a final outcome of this process will be duly communicated to the concerned parties.”
