M7 Warns Police: Clean Up Or I Act

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has threatened to act if the country’s police does not do enough to eliminate sloppiness.

The president made this warning on Sunday during a visit to the bereaved family of fallen police spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kaweesi in Kulambiro, near the capital Kampala.

“To the Police, there is growing concern of infiltration. Stories of leaks, intimidating and even killing witnesses are getting to me. This has undermined our strong relations with wanainchi who now don’t want to work with security organs. If you don’t stop, I will act,” Museveni warned.

The country’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) General Kale Kayihura was present as the president delivered this warning.

“Projects like the installation of security cameras on roads have been stalling because of misplaced priorities into salary increments and such,” Museveni said.

He added, “As a result we now have idiots getting away with murder and instilling unnecessary fear in our people. This is putting undue pressure on our security agencies who are working under very strenuous circumstances in cases like these. This must stop.”

He also reassured the nation of scurity vowing to hunt down those responsible and quicken their meeting with the creator if they do not surrender.

“I want to assure Ugandans that this is a cowardly crude act that we shall defeat. These criminals are going to die because they’re killing our people, young people who we are using to build institutions,” the president warned.

“We have arrested some of these criminals and others are still at large. I want to tell these criminals that we shall get you. We shall kill you or capture you. But if they don’t want to die, let them surrender.”

Kaweesi will be buried on Tuesday at his ancestral home in Kyazanga, Lwengo district.
