Kira dares Kitara in top of the table Big League clash

As the FUFA Big League resumes today, a top of the table clash between Kitara and Kira headlines what is an intriguing round of play.

In what could prove to be a crucial fixture in the context of the promotion battle, Kitara will be looking to create some more distance between them and the rest of the competition, while Kireka have a great opportunity to apply pressure on Nyamityobora for the automatic slot.

Kitara, who skipped their opening game against Kireka due to the unavailability of Namboole have dominated at home, only losing twice on the road.

With a game in hand, Kitara coach Anthony Ssekitto said a win against second-placed Kira was paramount.

“We have had a bit of time off and it’s crucial that we get back into the swing of things,” he said.

“We came up short last year, however we definitely feel as though we have the team to earn direct promotion.”

A much changed Kira under Mark Twinamasiko will however pose a great threat. They registered the biggest win this season beating Greater Masaka 8-0. Twinamasiko vowed to cover up for lost ground.

“Kitara are our direct challengers for promotion and beating them is not an option,” he said.
