Months after being fired by Uganda’s Central Bank, dfcu bank has also ditched city law firm, Sebalu & Lule Advocates as representatives in the case against Meera Investments Limited.
According to a notice of change of to the High Court in Kampala, dfcu bank has now hired the services of law firm, Kalenge, Bwanika, Ssewa & Co. Advocates.
“Take Notice, that we, M/s Kalenge, Bwanika, Ssewa & Co. Advocates….have been instructed by the first respondent [dfcu bank] to represent it in the above proceedings, in place of M/s Sebalu & Lule Advocates,” the notice dated November 20th reads.
In April this year, the High Court in Kampala put a permanent injunction on Lule & Sebalu Advocates saying they cannot now participate in cases involving the Ruparelia Group since the law firm at one time was employed by the company. The law firm was barred by the High Court from representing the dfcu bank against city tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia for being conflicted.
dfcu bank and Rupareli Group have been embroiled in legal wars since the latter’s Crane Bank was taken over by the former.
