Hundreds of residents of Mutungo and surrounding areas in Kigo turned up on Friday for a free medical camp organized by dfcu Bank in partnership with Rotary Uganda.
The camp, held at Mutungo Health Centre II, offered a range of services including blood donation, eye screening and treatment, malaria testing, HIV testing and counselling, general medical consultations and health education.
Dianah Nanono, Sustainability Manager at dfcu Bank, said the bank takes the health of communities where it operates seriously.
“It is beyond business. We also look at the communities we are banking and what their health is like,” Nanono said.

dfcu Bank entered a three-year partnership with Rotary Uganda last year to deliver basic medical care across the country. So far, at least 30,000 people have benefited from the initiative.
Nanono pledged the bank’s continued support towards the well-being and socio-economic transformation of communities.

Maria Odido, President of the Rotary Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf, said the camp was timely for Kigo, a predominantly low-income community.
“They aren’t aware of basic illnesses like hypertension. They don’t understand these things,” Odido said, noting that high blood pressure and malaria were the most prevalent conditions diagnosed at the camp.
She said the camp aimed to create health awareness, offer primary treatment and provide referrals where necessary.
Odido commended dfcu Bank for the partnership and urged residents to consider dfcu as their financial partner.
