Desabre looking for technical player in Cranes team

International friendly matches

Uganda vs. Tanzania

Having managed the Uganda Cranes for now six games, coach Sebastien Desabre says he has a lot of things to fix with the national team.

Desabre, who was handling the senior team for the second time in a friendly match with Malawi that ended 0-0 at Namboole, told the media that he still has time to get his desired system of attractive football.

“We have a problem between the defence and attack,” Desabre told the press after the game on Monday evening.

Trying out a 4-4-2 formation which he later made a 4-4-1-1, Desabre’s team was lacking so much in creativity and had to wait until the 24th minute for the first attempt, a Yunus Sentamu solo run on the right although he rattled the ball in the side netting.

With little to offer in attack that had Sentamu and Emmanuel Okwi, the first corner came in the 38th minute when Yeovil Town’s Bevis Mugabi headed the ball high.

Milton Karisa did not manage any crosses into the box and the impact on the wings was only felt when he was replaced with Abram Ndugwa, who twice threatened on the right wing with mouthwatering crosses.

But Desabre wasn’t worried after he said that these two games, the other being a Saturday 3-1 win over minnows Sao Tome and Principe, were meant for confidence building.

He added that he now has to take a look at Faruku Miya, Khalid Aucho and Moses Oloya before the Cranes face Tanzania as he continues to find a technical player who can add speed during transition from defending to attacking.
