Death Toll Up To 22 As Another Woman Is Murdered In Entebbe

Another woman has been killed in Entebbe Municipality, bringing to twelve the number of victims of the suspected serial murders.

This morning, a body of yet to be identified woman was recovered in Kitala, Katabi town council. It was found dumped on the roadside by local residents. The residents immediately called police and the body was rushed to Mulago Hospital for postmortem.

According to the police spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan policing area, Emilian Kayima, the body of the woman who is believed to be in her early 30s was already in a decomposing state.

“We are doing everything to ensure that we arrest the culprits of these murders and bring them to justice, ” Kayima told local news agency, Uganda Radio network.

Scene of crime officers are already at the scene where the body was found collecting possible evidence. Sniffer dogs are also being used to comb the area for possible leads.

In the last two to three months, women between 20 and 35 years have been murdered in a suspected serial killing where the victims are first sexually-assaulted before they are murdered and sticks pushed into their private parts.

Similar murders were also reported about a month ago in Nansana Municipality in Wakiso District.

Since the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kale Kayihura established camp and changed all police personnel in Nansana, no other woman has been killed there. However, despite frequent visits to Entebbe, the murders have continued.
