This Was A Purge Not A Reshuffle: Katuntu On COSASE Force Out

Abdu Katuntu, the Bugweri County MP has spoken out on being dropped by Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) as the Chairperson of  Parliament Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE).

Katuntu was replaced by Kawempe South lawmaker, Mubarak Munyagwa.

However, Katuntu says this is more than a reshuffle.  The Muntu leaning lawmaker says it was a cleanout.

“This was a purge not a reshuffle,” Katuntu said while appearing on Capital FM’s ‘Capital Gang’ show on Saturday.

When asked on his way forward, Katuntu, who sounded disappointed said: “Many senior members were dropped. We shall meet with affected members and discuss [the way forward],” he said.

FDC president Patrick Oboi Amuriat on Friday made huge changes on Opposition representation in Parliament by kicking out all those that supported Mugisha Muntu during the FDC presidential elections which he (Amuriat) won.

Winfred Kiiza was dropped as the Leader of Opposition (minority leader) in Parliament.

The Kasese Woman MP was replaced by little known Betty Aol Ochan, the Gulu Municipality.
