Tension In Police As IGP Ochola Begins Headcount

Uganda Police Professional Standards Unit has commenced on the countrywide man power audit as part of the exercise to enforce Police Standing Orders and Administrative Orders, creating tension among some unprofessional police officers.

The exercise which started with units divisions and regions within Kampala has commenced today 18th June 2018 and comes as a recent directive by the Inspector General of Police Okoth Martin Ochola, Police said in a statement.

“The manpower audit will assist the force to come out with a detailed report containing several powerful recommendations based on facts and not just anecdotal data,” it added.

Police administrative planners will be able to know the actual numbers of serving officers as a way of professionalizing the force, expose human resource gaps, provide practical recommendations and transforming of the police service.
