Police Seal Off FDC Headquarters Over Age Limit

Police has heavily deployed in various parts of Kampala ahead of the anticipated motion for a constitutional amendment to lift the cap on the presidential age limit.

The headquarters of the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC, Uganda’s biggest opposition party, is under siege by regular, anti-riot and anti-terrorism police. They have deployed all-round the headquarters at Najjanankumbi along Kampala-Entebbe road.

Police Spokesperson Asan Kasingye on Monday insisted that the police would deploy in the city to ward off any threats. There is equally visible deployment at a number of strategic locations in the central business district.

Military police have deployed heavily at the Constitution Square where they have also erected several tents and at parliament, the centre of all political action for the day.
