Police Deny Reports They Sent Officer To Spy On Bobi Wine

The Uganda Police Force have denied social media reports that they sent one of their officers to spy on on Kyadondo East Lawmaker, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine on his was back from the USA.

According to a statement issued on Friday, the police says Pamella Kentaro had traveled to Kenya for a short course after being nominated by the Judiciary.

Below is the statement

We have seen several social media posts alleging that our Officer ASP Kentaro Pamella spied on Kyadondo East MP Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi all the way from America to Uganda.

We want to clarify as follows.

1.That the officer was nominated by the Judiciary to go for a course in Mombasa Kenya that was scheduled from 17th to 19th September 2018 and the return ticket was for 20th September 2018, the day that the honourable was also coming back.

2.The officer has been providing security to Hon. Kyagulanyi, when the honourable has events/shows at his One Love Beach Busabala, and they know each other. Police cannot deploy anybody who is already exposed in uniform to do undercover operation, more so someone who is already known to the target as a Police Officer.

3.It’s therefore false to allege that the officer was on a spying mission. Covert operations are not done the way social media is trying to portray.

4.Disregard information/social media posts that our officer was in a spying mission.
