Panic As Age Limit Bill Misses Out On Order Paper, Again

There is panic both in NRM and Opposition camps over delayed tabling of the Age Limit Bill report by Parliamentary Legal Committee.

The report was expected to be tabled yesterday but it wasn’t on the order paper, to the shock of many. Yesterday’s Order Paper indicated that the controversial Constitution (Amendment) (no. 2) Bill, 2017 was to return to Parliament today.

However, the leaked Order Paper of today indicates that the Age Limit Bill will instead be considered the following day.

An Order Paper itemizes issues legislators are to discuss on a particular day, but it can be amended even on the floor of Parliament.

The Constitution (Amendment) (no. 2) Bill, 2017 that was brought by Igara West MP Raphael Magyezi seeks to amend Article 102 (b) of the 1995 Constitution by allowing a person above 75 years of age as well as those below 35 to stand for President.

Below is today’s Order Paper.
