Museveni Dares Musisi, Renews Her KCCA Contract

Barely a month after Jennifer Musisi, the Executive Director at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) regretted why she took up the top job at the City Authority, President Yoweri K. Museveni has for the second time renewed her contract, Business Focus has learnt.

According to credible sources at KCCA, Musisi’s contract was renewed because she has made big changes in the city including increased tax collections, order and putting in place a master plan aimed at transforming Kampala into a modern city.

“The contract is before her (Musisi), but what I can’t confirm is whether she has signed it yet,” a source said, adding that the contract will run up to 2020. President Museveni first appointed Musisi in 2011 to head KCCA and renewed her three year contract in February 2014. This contract is supposed to run up to April 2017, but a new one is already on table.

Musisi was formerly a Commissioner Legal and Board Affairs at Uganda Revenue Authority before she joined KCCA, where she earns a monthly salary of over Shs40m.

Musisi’s six year reign at KCCA has been marred with endless quarrels between her and Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago. Museveni also blamed his poor performance in Kampala during the 2016 general elections on Musisi’s works, a thing that didn’t go down well with her.

It should be noted that Musisi recently shocked the nation when she said that she regrets why she took up KCCA’s top job. She was appearing before the ongoing probe of the Shs6bn oil handshake by the Parliamentary Committee on Statutory Authority and State Enterprises (COSASE).

“Had I known what this job involves at the time the President asked me to take it up, I would have declined,” Musisi said.
