Kwese Partners With MTN To Bring World Cup On Your Smartphone

Kwese iflix, the joint venture of Econet Media and iflix, an entertainment service for emerging markets Tuesday announced the launch of its premier digital entertainment platform in Uganda with industry leader MTN.

The all new Kwese iflix service offers users the ultimate entertainment, featuring Kwese’s extraordinary content offering including the live coverage of the world’s most elite sporting competitions including the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.

Speaking at the launch of the service in Kampala, Herbert Mucunguzi, the General Manager Kwesé TV Uganda said the Kwese iflix App offers customers the best in entertainment anytime and anywhere.

“Watching World Cup on your Smartphone is a great achievement for us,” Mucunguzi said, adding: “The Ugandan consumer now has unlimited access to all their favourite sports and shows in a way which suit their life style-satisfying their need to be in the know, on-the-go and on their terms.  We are excited to be working with MTN to deliver our content into the hands of even more Ugandans.”

The Kwese iflix App can be downloaded from Google store.

Mucunguzi noted that Kwese iflix customers will have an opportunity to watch 32 World Cup games free of charge. However,  the remaining games they will be required to subscribe for premium content.

He said customers have many subscription options ranging from one day up to 30 days. Subscription costs range from Shs2,100 for one day up to Shs14,400 for 30 days.

Speaking at the same event, Olivier  Prentout, the MTN Uganda Chief Marketing Officer said time based bundles is  not only a first in Uganda, but also within the MTN Group.

“We have created time bundles dedicated to Kwese iflix ranging from 2 hours of unlimited consumption at only Shs1,600 up to 24 hours at only Shs19,200,” he said, adding: “These bundles are much cheaper than the normal bundles, making it more affordable for our customers to enjoy the great entertainment on mobile.”

Prentout added that the partnership with Kwese iflix will enable the telecom giant deliver some of the best international and local sports to their customers.
