Express finally wins in Nsimbe’s first game

Express finally ended its winless streak in the Azam Uganda Premier League by beating Soana 4-0 in George Nsimbe’s first game as technical advisor at Wankulukuku.
January acquisition Jalilu Zimula broke the deadlock in the 14th minute, Michael Birungi added the other six minutes before completing his brace in the 61st minute. After Soana missed some chances to crawl back, Ayub Kisalita, who scored a double on Saturday sealed it with three minutes to play.
It was Express’ first win since a 2-0 victory over BUL on the eve of Valentine’s Day in February and only their second in the last ten games.
The side’s slump led to threatening acts from the fans over the players after Saturday’s 4-3 loss to Police, which prompted the team’s leadership to seek the help of George Nsimbe as Technical Advisor to Shafiq Bisaso.
Nsimbe, who has been without a club since he was sacked last year by Kenya’s Tusker is well respected having claimed three league titles with KCCA before he left for Tanzania in 2014.
He told reporters yesterday that he was optimistic of helping the Red Eagles to stave off relegation.
The home side was aggressive, first to every ball, winning challenges, and Soana struggled to create enough attacking opportunities.
Express is still in the relegation zone with 19 points but the attitude they showed could see them escape the relegation monster.

Police battered
Police, who beat Express on Saturday suffered yet again with a leaking defence in a five-goal thriller against BUL in Kakindu.
Richard Wandyaka’s fifth minute penalty was soon cancelled by Albert Mugisa’s 8th minute goal before Douglas Owori restored parity for the hosts in the 13th minute.
Norman Ojik levelled the game in the 58th but Faisal Muledhu ensured the Jinja side takes maximum points with a strike on the 87th minute.

Bright Stars get 10th draw
Bright Stars earned their 10th draw of the season after a 0-0 stalemate against Proline.
Proline, who have not won a single game in their last eight games have struggled for form after Fahad Bayo was sold to Zambian side Buildcom.
The Mujib Kasule side have not won a game on the road since the season began and this was their third draw away from home.
